Kiki’s Story
In 2022, Lotherton Pathway Resident Kiki started to petition for a community crossing guard at the Caledonia Road and Playfair Avenue intersection.
After gaining support from community residents for nearly a year, in May 2023 they shared their story on CBC Radio. Eventually Kiki and other Lotherton Pathway residents went door to door and started a petition. Together they collected 224 signatures and submitted their petition to the city councillor’s office in June 2023.
Fifteen months after Kiki first applied, the City of Toronto assigned a crossing guard to the intersection at Caledonia Road and Playfair Avenue!
