Lotherton Pathway
Resident Markets
Brought to you by the Lotherton Resident Group, the Lotherton Pathway Resident Markets is a pop-up market that distributes fresh produce to community members.
Every market was able to give away over 100 fresh produce and products to residents and parents in the community! Special thanks to Unison Health and Community Services for their funding and support to run these Resident Markets.
These markets happen on a pop-up basis at Joyce Public School, however the history of food markets in Lotherton stems back to over a decade ago!
History
2015
FoodShare started hosting Food Markets for residents. This increased access to affordable fresh produce in Lotherton. When FoodShare stopped, North York Community House (NYCH) was able to coordinate a market with FoodShare for 6 months.
2020
The Pandemic
After the project with FoodShare and North York Community House ended, there were no Food Markets. However, during the pandemic the Community Development Team at NYCH was able to do Good Food Box deliveries for Lotherton Pathway, Lawrence Heights, and Neptune.
2023
As fresh food is a top priority, Lotherton residents were able to restart the Food Markets with the support and funding from Unison Health and Community Services.
Therefore, they created the Lotherton Resident Markets!
